This project supported the development of a mobile phone environmental monitoring app, facilitating citizen scientists to collect and use high resolution data on marine strandings and other key metrics of marine environmental health around the Scottish coastline. The project included development and overhaul of the Beachtrack App and integration to a front end to incorporate with HWDT WhaleTrack app and a web based data dashboarding capability.
A one day (hybrid) workshop with stakeholders was also held to support the partnerships benefiting from data generated by the app to establish key monitoring priorities.
In 2023 SMEEF was able to provide a grant of £65,838 to support this work using resources from the Nature Restoration Fund.
