Measuring SMEEF’s Impact
SMEEF has funded 30 seabird focused projects and almost 30 more which will have a substantial positive impact on seabird populations, support their resilience or improve their habitats.
Today (14/09/26) SMEEF is excited to announce the publication of our new Seabird Themed Impact Report. This is the first of a series of reports which will sit alongside our annual Impact Reports.
What’s in the report
- Unlocking finance – every £1 from private contributions has unlocked more than £1 from other sources.
- Connecting people and nature – from practical action by volunteers (see page 28) to new technology every project has a story to tell.
- Community Wealth Building – across the board communities are identifying the wellbeing benefits of living in a more biodiversity-rich environment (see pages 18-20).
- Skills, jobs and capacity – dozens of full and part time jobs – this SMEEF funded workforce is making change happen.
- Convening and collaboration – making local and international collaboration happen (see pages 51-53).
- Cultural identity and the visitor economy – seabirds are deeply woven into Scotland’s economy and cultural identity (see page 39).
