In Argyll, on the west coast of Scotland, Craignish Restoration of Marine and Coastal Habitat (CROMACH) and Seawilding work to support projects to restore degraded marine habitats and species. This project was designed to upgrade their marine restoration activities and involved the purchase equipment to enhance survey and planting work for native oysters and seagrass as well as enhance monitoring abilities. Dive training, mapping equipment and condition assessment helped them to plant and monitor their first seagrass restoration area. Several years on the equipment is still proving invaluable as their planting goes from strength to strength.
In 2021 SMEEF was able to provide a total grant of £41,891 to support this work using resources from the Nature Restoration Fund.
