The Orkney Skate Trust (OST) has designed and tested three innovative designs of a baited remote underwater camera system that attracts skate, as well as other marine life, to a camera so that non-invasive scientific data can be recorded. These cameras are called Baited Remote Underwater Video or BRUV and OST have become leading experts in low-cost citizen science survey using such systems.
The Orkney Skate Trust was awarded £12,350 for this work. This grant round was made possible with funds from the Nature Restoration Fund (NRF). For more information about how to contribute to SMEEF contact manager@smeef.scot
