Beachwatch facilitate a network of volunteers to undertake Scotland wide beach cleans and collect vital data about the litter they collect. This project enabled them to purchase equipment for their Beachwatch volunteers across Scotland, helping them to build on the successful work of this established programme. Altogether they bought equipment for 15 complete Beachwatch kits, which have been distributed to volunteers across Scotland. Each kit provides enough equipment to enable a group of 30 volunteers to carry out a beach clean together.
In 2021 SMEEF was able to provide a grant of £9,444 to support this work using resources from the Nature Restoration Fund.
