Shorewatch is Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s citizen science project where trained volunteers gather valuable, long-term coastal cetacean observation data from more than 30 land-based sites around Scotland. Shorewatch data feeds into the creation, protection, and management of a multitude of areas including Marine Protected Areas. This grant was allocated to Shorewatch for the purchasing of essential equipment, such as cameras and binoculars, which will help the project expand its impact.
Whale and Dolphin Conservation were awarded £30,096.96 for this work. This grant round was made possible with funds from the Nature Restoration Fund (NRF). For more information about how to contribute to SMEEF contact manager@smeef.scot
